The 12 Character Requirements:
  1. Propriety
  2. Fairness
  3. Kindness
  4. Nobility
  5. Loyalty
  6. Honesty
  7. Respect
  8. Integrity
  9. Righteousness
  10. Bravery
  11. Trustworthiness
  12. Morality

The 20 Prohibitions:

  1. Do not rely on a position of authority to bully others
  2. Do not defer to the strong out of fear or insult the weak
  3. Do not fear for your self; come to the aid of others in danger
  4. Do not commit crimes
  5. Do not rely on your kung fu skills to unrighteously fight with others
  6. Do not take advantage of a superior position to become arrogant
  7. Do not sell your art on the street indiscriminately
  8. Do not travel here and there to join gangs
  9. Do not wallow in luxury or live a pauper's existence
  10. Do not be prideful or self satisfied
  11. Do not get into arguments with crazy or violent people
  12. Do not contend with the ignorant
  13. Do not be proud to the poor or fawn on the rich
  14. Do not seek undeserved wealth
  15. Do not engage in excessive alcoholism and prostitution
  16. Do not refuse to pay any public or private obligations
  17. Do not use public office for personal gain
  18. Do not pursue the trappings of high office or a handsome salary
  19. Do not betray your country or be a traitor
  20. Do not become lazy and waste your time by not practicing

The 12 Prohibited Characters:

  8. Inferior character (Baseness)

  11. Arrogance
  12. Cruelty

The 2 Standards of Conduct:

  1. A good, morally upright person who practices Taijiquan does so for the purpose of
    obtaining good health and strengthening their body, thus promoting the basis of life.  
    This is advocated.
  2. An immoral person who becomes involved in the martial arts uses their skill to take
    from others, thus creating harm and suffering.  This is forbidden.
